Cyst removal

Cysts are benign, small, raised swellings that develop when the glands below the skin become blocked and inflamed. They can grow over time and can become painful or infected, so it's best to have them removed early.

Lipoma removal

Lipomas are small fatty lumps made up of fat tissue which has moved outside its normal plane, they are often felt as a soft swelling which is often very mobile.

Ganglion

This is a mobile swelling along the tendon sheath of the hands and feet. They contain gelatinous fluid. Ganglions can become quite painful as they grow. They are often located on our hands and feet which can limit us from carrying out our usual activities.

Mole and skin tag removal

Moles are flesh-coloured or pigmented skin lesions that have been present for some time. They can become sore or itchy and may catch on clothing. Different types of moles require different removal methods, which will be determined during an initial consultation and can include cryotherapy, shave excision, cautery, or incision removal.

Seborrhoeic Keratosis

These are benign growths caused by a build-up of skin cells. They are often pigmented and often look ‘stuck-on’, with a greasy appearance. They are not infectious and do not turn into skin cancer.

Skin tags

Skin tags are soft, small, skin-coloured lesions that hang off the skin, They are very common, harmless, and can vary in colour and size – from a few millimetres up to 5cm wide. Skin tags are usually found on the neck, armpits, around the groin, or under the breasts.

Intradermal Naevi

These are raised skin-coloured or light brown dome shaped lesions. They can appear anytime during adulthood.

Junctional Naevi

These can be flat (junctional) or raised (compound) and are brown in colour. They can be present at birth or develop during late childhood and adulthood. Any new lesions appearing during adulthood need to be monitored and checked.

Dermatofibroma

These are harmless skin lesions that are skin coloured and can occur at any age. They tend to feel firm and rubbery lying just under the surface of the skin.

Epidermoid and Pilar Cysts

Epidermoid cysts: These are also known as sebaceous cysts, they are non cancerous cysts beneath the skin. They can be found anywhere on the body but most commonly located on the face, neck and trunk. Pilar cysts: These are overgrowths of skin cells. They grow around hair follicles and usually appear on the scalp. They are yellow or white and form dome shape bumps held together in a little sac. They can grow in size and become infected.

All procedures are carried out by resident Doctors who have performed hundreds of procedures over the years. Due to the pressures placed on our national health system many procedures are no longer available or are very limited (with strict criteria) in this setting.
